Getting the Wheeling Fever
Boy,I did it now! I need help..before the wife kicks my @*# for screwing up the Trooper..Here's what happened..while changing my tranny fluid/filter,I "broke" the terminal off of the 1-2/3-4 shift solenoid I bought a replacement, put it all back together. Now I have only first gear..the tranny won't upshift..I checked the trouble code and got a "61-Gear Error" Yeah,no kidding! Heres my question...Could I have gotten the wrong solenoid? the 1-2/3-4 solenoid and the 2-3 shift solenoid look identical..the manual says the difference is one is open normally, the other is closed normally...My tranny was fine until my "mishap",so I'm inclined to think that the problem lies there...Any ideas on what to look for,and fixing it? I'm wondering if I might have fried the TCM also....I did disconnect the TCM,to see if I could shift manually..alah,limp mode, but it still doesn't work...Help! ...TIA...John

For something this technical I suggest you contact Jerry Lemond jlemond@bellsouth.net
He used to train Isuzu mechanics and is very helpful.

I have that downloaded already..plus I bought a rebuild manual for the tranny...All I can think of is maybe the check balls aren't right,or I got the wrong solenoid sent to me...I hope Jerry can steer me in the right direction...Maybe it is time to change over to a 5 speed...

You are already way ahead of my knowledge of the guts of an auto tranny...I admire your sense of adventure
