For as much as those stupid things are, just get an MSD ignition instead. Much better spark anyway. Unless you can find an igniter for real cheap

I got my 6A model on jegs.com for only 140 I think.

Make sure you know what it is first. Did you check your pickup coil and coil first?

At almost $400, it's worth chasing a used one.
It think the pickup in the distributor is more likely to fail.. It's a VR sensor, if I recall correctly and you can test it on the truck or by pulling the distributor.

You can't use an MSD in place of the ignitor on the EFI trucks.. The output of the ECU is square wave (4-5v) which has to be "translated" into when to fire the coil.

Carb'd trucks are different.

is it posible to wire this direct without shorting it out.
i changed the truck from 2wd auto to 4wd 5 speed it had no igniter
