So, now that I have acess to a mandrel bender and nice aluminum pipe. I'm going to make a custom long tube cold air intake.
But, with the massive AFM vein and it's bulkiness, I won't be able to get a nice straight shot with the tube. I know in OBDII Cars (most) of them have simple 02 sensor style air flow meters that only require a 2 pin plug in.
I noticed inside the AFM there is a tiny flow meter hanging off the roof off of it inside the flapper.
If I gut the circuitry and snag the meter, and adapt it into aluminum pipe w/ the meter in the custom cold air tube, will the truck function ok? Or does the flapper door prove as a "Throttle sensor" to the EFI system?

www.autoshop101.com, tech article sensor#4 should help.

If someone still has a bad AFM laying around, that might be what you tear down for a fitment, rather than trash yours.

I wonder if altering the shape inside will affect that too, unless there's enough leeway to reshape one. Haven't had one open in awhile.

Damn good read there I thank you very much for that. After reading through that article, it sounds almost near impossible for me to convert it since the whole thing relys on the on another. Guess i'll just work it into the system instead of monkeying with it hehe.
