I need to know what year front solid axle has the brake rotor bolted to the back of the hub (not the rotor that slides over the lug studs)?

Here is the deal I bought a 83 yota and went to do a brake job. The rotors for a 83 I got from the parts store didnt work the holes were too big and appeared to be designed to slide over the lug studs which were not going to work in my applaction. I headed back to the parts store to make sure those were the right part number rotors they were for the 83 and now I am here. I will check out the 85 rotors next week when I get more time.

A lot of the rotors have the studs pressed on from behind a hub, making replacement rotors look like the wrong ones. For many of them you have to take 2 or 3 bolts out from the back and press (or hammer) out the studs and the two pieces will then separate. If you're going to hammer them out I strongly suggest using a brass hammer or buy new studs to go with the rotor.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
When i rebuilt the front end of my 84 pickup it had the rotors with pressed studs and then it was bolted to the hub.

to hammer them out use a punch and just hit the stud in the middle, wont screw up the threads that way and only take a few good hits per stud.

i work for schwabs in the alignment center and i can do a complete front and rear brake job on a toyota in 1 hour when im not in a hurry, test drive included in that time. thats what happens when thats just about all you do every day all day long <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />
