Good idea? My friends dad is wanting to sell it. It needs tranny work and the head blew so that would need to be replaced, but other than that, it's great. He recently replaced the pistons, re-bored it and he said he polished somthing, but I can't remember what he said. It's only got 5,000 miles on the engine block. He never really went off-road with it, and when he did he cleaned everything and everywhere. Theres no mud on it. The tires have great tread, so that's good. Got like a safari bumper thing. It's an automatic , 4x4.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace the head?

Should I get it and do an engine swap with an s-10 5-spd?

I don't know how much some of those parts are. But before you buy it crawl underneath with a screwdriver and poke the frame in different places. WHen I got mine for $400 I knew the frame was bad and would need fixing. But if you don't have the time to play around with frame work it can be very time consuming. SO before you close the killer deal make sure you look closely at the frame behind the rear wheel wells.
good luck

Lucas

K, thanks. I will do that. The guy who owns it is my friends dad and he only drove it to work and stuff. I know that the frame is fine. I think it has a lift on it, but not sure. It sits higher than the stock 88/89 troopers on here. The guy is a mechanic and he took GREAT care of it. No horseplay. I would like to get it cause, I currently drive a car and I like to go fast. And with a car that can go fast, I do. So, not that doing 105 down a 55m.p.h road isn't fun, but I don't want to get myself killed cause I care too much for the people around me. Sorry, kinda random.

I am going to email the guy soon and ask him to send me the info about it.(milage and stuff)
I will let y'all know the deal on it when I find out.
I'm not sure if he will sell it to me or not, but when he told me he wasnted to sell it, he sure hinted like he wanted me to have it. I'm 17 so well see. It would be cool if I could keep my '90 Mazda 626 for a dd and use the Isuzu for 4x4 stuff.

If anyone else has info on the parts, please let me know!

Is it located in Buchannon, GA or the outskirts of Bremen, GA. I ran across one not to long ago about that same year. It was parked on the side of Hwy 27. It was a good lookin Tropper. Jayson

If you really like going fast you might not like a trooper. They are dogs(speaking from experience).

Andrew,
If it's the one in Suwanee, looks like it was posted in the classified section of this site a couple of days ago. Sounds like a great deal to me... you should jump on it. There's a bunch of us Isuzu heads in the area so you'll have plenty of resources if you need any help. Go for it.

Yeah, it's the one in suwanee. I am gonna email him after I filnish this. So we'll see. If I can, I really want to get it. It would be cool to have a vehicle to work on and plus, I could stop using my car to go 4x4ing! hehe.
Thanks for mentioning the classifieds, I forgot that he said he was gonna postit on there. Plenty of Isuzu heads huh, sweet. If I get it, we should go wheeling. Hey, speakiong of which, you ever been over to Mcfarland? It's exit 12 or 13 off of 400. They have some good trails over there. I've mountain biked on them with some friends of mine.

Yeah, I saw the route you took and that looks insane dude! A little crazy, but good job though.

Anyone know the stock ground clearance of a trooper?

Thanks for all the help and support guys. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
