I've had my balance shaft elimination kit in for about 45,000 or so. It was very easy to install (included illustrated instructions). After it was in I couldn't tell ANY increased vibration BUT I had just rebuilt the engine, and the pistons and rods were carefully balanced before installation. I don't know what effect it would have on an engine where the pistons/rods weren't balanced.

But in my case, I've had no vibration related issues since install.

Hey this is Donalds Dad Iwill be installing t chian and BSE. Our kit did not have instructions with it (napa). I believe the new bearing goes on lower BS hole? do you pull upper shaft? no oil problems there? the kit came with chian, sleeve (for bearing) and threaded shaft. If you could post some basic instructions it would help Thanks Allen <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

the sleeve getts tapped in the upper bs hole after you remove the shaft,it blocks off the oil hole if you dont put it in then when you start it you will have no oil presure.the threaded shaft goes on the back of the oil pump where the lower shaft was.

Yup. Bearing seals driver's side bs bore oil passage in front of block. Short threded shaft replaces passenger side balance shaft and drives oil pump. Short chain runs from crank to new oil pump shaft. Single guide goes below chain. One bolt goes in end of guide. Oval out the more central hole a little with a file or drill bit to make it an adjustment slot for the guide. Adjust chain-guide clearance to 1mm with slot for quietest running. Use LocTite on new shaft threads, as loss of oil pump drive + young driver = new engine required and much cursing and gnashing of teeth. I'd replace the hydraulic tensioner rubber thingy on the oil pump, too. It really helps to loosen all the pan bolts when you take the timing cover off, and pay special attention to the sealing of the timing cover to head/block at the upper back corners with a dab of rtv.

Well, you were probably gonna have to do it soon anyway. At least we've figured out how to do it so it works now...

Where is Pink Hill in NC? I'm pretty close to W NC...
