Body Damage is Cool
Got the new motor and clutch all in and runnin' great.....however after one day of drivin the truck around again, I woke up to a nice puddle of 80W-90 on the driveway. Looks to be leaking out of the bell housing, I've been filling the transmission up every now and again to keep her topped off and as soon as some more cash finds it's way to me, I'm plannin' on tearin' it out and replacing some seals/gaskets. Anyone with transmission experience on these things know what might be leaking? Would it be a simple fix or should I junkyard hunt for another transmission to throw in?

Thanks! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Betcha popped the input shaft seal. You'll need that and the gasket for the retainer (mine was pretty brittle). Just pull it off; do the R&R and BE CAREFUL putting it back together.

Hopefully you didn't bend the shaft.

I did have a pretty tough time gettin' the motor in there :\ how easily are those shafts FUBAR'd? I'm guessin' I can just eyeball the shaft or throw some sort of straight edge along it to check the straightness?

Thanks smile

80w-90? im almost positive our trannies call for 75w-90 but w/e. i didnt think the syncros would work right w/ the thicker oil.
