Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I think I have put the SAS out of the picture and am going to keep the ifs, I want this vehicle to be trip worthy and really dont plan on going to extreme with it to where I will need a solid axle. I took it to the trails the other day and it is ALOT different then my old CJ7. It tends to lean quiet a bit more. So anyways I am wanting the rear to flex as much as possible to compensate for the front not flexing at all.I know I will have to get a longer driveshaft and have to relocate the shocks aswell as get some longer brake lines but has anyone used the revolver shackles and what do you think of them. I hear they can add 8-10 inches of drop alone. any info would be greatly appreciated

Read away: LINK You will find that the comments about Revolvers will span make and model. Some people like them, some people do not. Both sides of the arguement have valid points. Good Luck, Michael

Couple of threads found by searching for +revolver in the Isuzu forums: OneTwoJust some info to get you started. There are more threads that touch on the subject out there if you expand to other forums besides Isuzu.

Body Damage is Cool

I ran them on my Amigo. I had to replace them because on eof them broke a couple of months ago. You will not get 8" of additonal droop, maybe 3" or 4". I never really noticed any improvment as far as traction goes. You have to remember that the tire that has dropped into a hole probably has the least traction because there is little or no weight on it, so yes your tire droops but does that really improve traction?
I ran them for a few years and have no words of wisdom or any negatives about them.
The "revolver" part will relieve some lateral stress from your spring hangers, that can't be a bad thing.
You will still get tons of body lean with the revolvers, it's just a fact of life with IFS and a front suspension that doesn't have much travel.

Roll Me Over

I don't use revolvers, but do have some homemade double shackles (unfold like revolvers, just don't twist). I've never had any of the side effects heard mentioned about revolvers and they've work just fine for me... ![[Linked Image]](http://www.zu4x.com/albums/album18/doubleshackle.jpg) these happen to be made from my original Calmini lift shackles and a stock chevy style shackle that will slide right into it. this setup kept me from having to relocate my rear shackle mount when I changed out to 56" chevy springs in the rear. -Rob
