New owner -- need help #772966 12/17/06 08:08 PM

Hello all, I just purchased a '83 Isuzu Pup Diesel, 4x4. As most older vehicles it needs a little work ie: new bed, leak from the heater core, new hubs. I was looking to learn about this new truck and I was wondering if anyone could direct me to any FAQs or other sources of information.

For instance anybody know what years or models are interchangable with a '83?

I've been doing Biodiesel for the past three years. I make it in my garage for my 84 ford escort and my 92 jetta ecodiesel. If I can help please let me know.

Thanks for any help.

I think you are in the right place to learn about your new pup. You can do an archive search, for general questions. Like what are you looking to interchange? The bed? Or just on the lookout for a parts truck, and need to know what the range of years are that will work?
I didn't know the Ford Escort had a diesel model. That's cool. Who made the engine?

Hi Lorance, and welcome to the site. You have bought a good, reliable truck and a good website to visit and join is www.isuzupup.com Here at 4x4wire the information is great and you can get great help, but if you want more info and talk specific to a PUP do visit the above website. As for what's interchangeable any PUP from 81-87 will interchange with your 83. The 81-82 Chevy LUV will also interchange. Glad to see you own a diesel and glad to have you here. Good luck with getting the truck going.

Salvy, thanks for the plug. He already registered (on the 17th).

Brian, that Escort motor was a Mazda. Hope you're recovering from your hard drive crash. Thanks for reminding me of this forum!

No problem Jack. I bounce around on around six forums. I try to keep my username and display name the same so I don't need to think about it. When my hard drive did the crash & burn thing I got a bit spooked and couldn't recall which was which. I tried every name I use on each forum until I got on, but by then of course I didn't set the cookies so I had to do it all over again until I got each one and remembered to check the "remember me" box

Jack, not a problem and just trying to get more, helpful members to a great website. Good deal and glad to see he joined. More Isuzu owners are great!
