Need a Spot
I have a problem with my truck running rough at idle. It will occasionally misfire at random intervals.

I've replaced the plugs, cap, and rotor. The plug wires seem good. I think that the timing and idle speeds are where they should be at. I just got done doing the timing chain and everything else that goes with it, but this problem started before I tore all that apart.

Any ideas?

Make sure the Throttle Position Sensor IDLe setting is correct. That can lead to a rough/erratic idle if that is off.

Adjust the valves. They can be just slightly too tight so that it wont fire at idle.

Well, I got home tonight and fired it up before I even got online to view replies, and the idle problem has magically disappeared. So I took it out for its first test drive with the new head and cam.

Now it is really hesitating. I think it must be the TPS as you had mentioned. I will take it off sometime tomorrow, because it must have gotten gunked up when I cleaned the throttle body. I was being dumb when I didn't even think to take the TPS off before cleaning it.

Thanks again for all of the help. You guys are great.

Check the timing, you said you think the timing is right.
