OK, so we are the lucky ones (!) with the diesel rhd JDMs that everyone looks at, twist around to see, and waves you down in parking lots to discuss.

But what about the problems with being in the other seat? Anyone out there have a near miss? I've noticed two problems, I'll mention the first one here:

ò You are at an intersection taking a left across traffic. No left turn light. You enter the intersection and across from you is a quad-cab Ford or a Purolator Van and there is no bloody way you can see past him to know if you can take your left or not. By the time that the driver in the right-hand seat can see oncoming traffic, he is in the traffic! Which means you wait for a late-late-late yellow, or you don't enter the intersection!

I have the same exact problem and it pisses me off. thank god im still young (21) and flexible, I just lift both arm-rests and stretch right over. I try and drive with a passenger as much as I can so he/she can be my eyes.

Passing on the highway is another troubled chore, looking out to pass is pretty much sticking your dink into a light socket, you could get burnt but you hope you get lucky!!!

With under 100hp, I don't expect to do much passing on the highway.

I found that if you pull onto the shoulder before passing on a 2 lane highway, you can see a lot further down the road then you could if you were in the left seat trying to look around the car in front of you. Try it! Of course it might freak the guy out who you're passing - wild man drives on shoulder then whips all the way over into the oncoming lane!

my buddy Ryan took a kids canoe paddle and attached a cup holder to the end and screwed a small plastic flip top box from a dollar store to it, and passes his money over and gets his coffee and change put on it. He used to have a cup holder in the window sill, but most girls were slopping coffee into his fairlady.

always working

Hmmm... I go through Tim's twice a week... Here's how I do it:

-Pull up to speaker, shut off truck
-make order
-press fancy button to fold mirrors in
-drive up to window, getting as close as possible (without actually going in)
-Open power window, put tranny in neutral, engage e-brake.

Actually, they kinda "know" me there and it gives em a chuckle everytime.

But it's great at Peter's Drive Inn in Calgary! They have order windows on both sides of the building!

I suppose if you're sitting 5 ft. behind someone on the highway and you want to pass then you might have an issue but I always leave lots of room (no matter what side of the car I'm driving on) and I can see past everything without moving much further into the lane than normal. Most of the time you can see through or over the vehicle in front unless it's a semi-trailer and then you want lots of room anyway.

With the Pajero it's preferable to do a slingshot pass (utilizing all of that immense power) so you have to time your passing so that you have old "Mo" on your side when you reach the vehicle you want to get past. So you need to start way back when you can see fully down the oncoming lane.

In other words: I see no problem at all with passing safely on the highway.
