Did anyone try to pass air care test? A did it recently. My truck passed the test, but really close to the limit. I wory how long it can last. Maybe next year it fails? It works just fine, and had only 50000km. So, what could be a problem if it can't pass air test?

If it fails you just have to turn down the injector pump a bit . This will inject less fuel so there will be less "smoke". Might be a good idea to check the injectors. If you just got thte truck then it might fix itself by driving. Diesels like to get used (worked a bit) and if you don't (lots of ideling in Japan) they dont run as clean and as well. Putting some KM's on it should help with the smoke. Hope this helps.
My 84 Toyota with the 2L diesel failed last year and after I turned the injector pump down, it passed with flying colours.

mine passed ok. I did not know a diesel could fail. The tester said he has never seen any fail when I had mine done. As JDM tests have no benchmark to compare to.

Thanks for replay. There are so many different additives to diesel fuel. (for cleaning the system, lubricate low sulfar, antigel ...) Does it really help?

Some of them can make a huge difference. Especially those which are designed to aid lubricity.
The best one I've ever heard of is One Shot Jr. All the GM dealerships that deal with Duramax engines sell it.

the absolute best I've seen is either Stanadyne or Redline diesel fuel catalyst. it bumps the cetain up and reduces smoking...and on the highway I get about another 100km to a tank so it pays for itself right there.

100K that is great!! Do you use one in each tank of diesel then? How much does it cost? How many KM are you getting per tank? Thanks. Don. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

my friend owns a shop here in town called "mikasa performance" and he specialized in Volkswagens and Volkswagen diesels. he stocks both the Redline and stanadyne brands. I usually run about 1/3 of the bottle of redline on each fillup. now keep in mind I only see that much gain in mileage if my entire tank is highway driven. for in town I use it because the engine just seems to run happier and its not poppin and fartin or anything.
The Redline stuff costs about $9.00 a bottle and the Stanadyne is about $12.00 a bottle. on average in town I usually get about 700km/tank. its alot worse since its winter and theres quite a bit of idling time. im hoping to get over 800km/tank in the summer for in town driving
