Why, do you have a tick? If it's something like a clogged lifter, maybe a solvent would help, but since you have an OHC???

I have the ticking issue that I assume is common to all 92-97 rodeos.

I don't recall the brand or name, but there were numerous varieties... engine oil additives that claim to reduce or eliminate engine noise/ticking.

Just wondering if this stuff is for real?

The most common remedy is to flush Sea-Foam, Gunk engine flush through right before an oil change...then run 0W-30 Mobil 1 or other oil. That seems to help clear it up for most.

I can not find an answer for mine. I have done Gunk Engine Flush, Sea-Foam, Royal Purple oil, 0W-30, with no avail. I will keep it up in hopes that a few treatments over time will help.

Just go to know the tick. If you know the sound, it will be ok. Just listen for other irregularities.

'94, and '00 Amigos and '00, 01 Rodeos. Rodeo springs and aftermarket 'hard top on 94. Aisin hubs OME 919's on the 2000 Amigo. 2000 and 2001 Rodeos have OME 912's and Aisin. Smoother ride with the OME 919's???

Nope. I thought I read here that the ticking/tapping noise wasn't from valves on our cars and that it was normal.
