Do I remove starter from under rig.. and can I get to the wires from the top or bottom?
*I'm off work with a screwed up back.. so I'm thinking of cutting the inner firewall/fender for access like a hillbilly Hooplehead would do..
Currently, it just "clicks" with new battery and clean wire leads.. Truck starts fine with push or pull down the road, though a bit high idle for some wierd reason...
Advise?

Disconnect the battery. Go underneath and unbolt the starter. IIRC, they're 15mm bolts. Once you pull the starter down, you should be able to get to the wires. The main wire, IIRC, is either a 15mm or a 13mm. The small wire should be an 8mm. Installation is pretty much just the reverse.

Pretty much what Richard said, but there is sometimes a shim between the top of the starter and the mounting surface. Don't lose that shim. I don't think a hillbilly hole would help you too much as far as clearance in getting it out, but I'd like to see it if you do it.

The very most forward one, you can, but the one that actually crosses the oil pan, I'd pull it. You might be able to get away with leaving it there, but I'd take it off to make sure it's not in the way. It's only 4 bolts after all.
