Does any Toyota/Lexus have heated seats? I'd like to fit some in my 4Runner.

You can get a kit from Check Corp
I have a universal set UNV-27 that works well.

Anything that would have heated seats would not be a direct bolt-in replacement in a 1988 4Runner. Heated seats were never an option in trucks and 4Runners of the 1980's and early to mid 1990's. While mid to late 1990's Camry's, Land Cruiser's, and Lexus may have had heated seats, the seats won't just bolt in and there aren't any heated seat harness plugs on your 4Runner harness to tap in to.

I've seen generic heated seat kits on Ebay, and I've heard of people installing them on the ih8tmud.com forum (land cruisers). You might want to check those out instead. You have to remove the seat cloth/leather, install the kit and trim to size, and run the wiring. Otherwise, you can pick up one of those automotive heat/message cushions at Walmart for around $20-$30.

I figured they wouldn't be a direct replacement. Why would any mod so comfortable be so easy? That Check Corp system looks pretty neat but they dont make one for my truck. My buddy did it in his Cherokee by installing Grand Cherokee seats with the controls on the side. All he had to do was hook up some power wires and grounds. I was hoping for something like that, even if I have to drill a couple holes.

Nevermind, I didn't even see the universal one. How much did it cost you and was it worth it?

It was about $75/seat and it was worth it on my DD, but it would be perfume on a pig in my 1st gen.

I used to work on ***** Import Toyotas in my last job. I've seen heated seats in 1991 - 1993 Hilux Surfs and I'm pretty sure I've seen them in some of the older Forerunners we used to import as well (1986 or so). I doubt you guys would have imported any of these as the ***** cars are right hand drive, but I just thought I'd throw that in there for ya to think about. The Surfs also had heated wing mirrors (which seems weird over here coz we don't really get much frost).

The best seat setup I saw in an import vehicle was in a toyota soarer (lexus). They have 2 programable driver postitions where it adjusts the height/legroom/recline/back support of the seat at the press of a button. It also changed the radio station, adjusted the wing mirrors and turned the climate control on to where you last set it. Those seats weighed a ton though. They were also heated.

So we are missing out on heated seats and mirrors overseas?

Makes me want to move just to get a sweet ride
