Rough Running

My 1991 Montero RS is runnig rough. In November of 2005, I put in a remanufactured engine and have put about 13,000 mile on it. Yesterday, it strated idle and running very rough and feels like it is missing on one or more cylinders. At first I thought that it felt it might have a burnt valve resulting in low compression. However, after checking compression, the numbers rainged from 110 to 120 lbs. The plugs all looked good. I pulled the plug wires one by one and with each, the power dropped off. For about a month, I did feel a little "miss" while idleing in gear. What are the symptoms of an injector that has gone bad? Can the injectors be checked without removing? What else should I check? Thank you,

Did you reinstall the old injectors on the new engine? Assuming so, try running a can of BG44K thru the truck in about half a tank of fuel. Worth doing before you have to take the upper manifold and fuel rail off to get at the injectors, which is the next step after your successful spark check. Check the yellow pages under fuel injection or diesel injection for a shop that leak tests and ultrasound cleans and flow tests injectors. Costs me around $15 each. Several good mail in places for this, too, that others have posted here. There are shops that claim to clean the injectors on the car, and some of those use BG44K, but there's no way to leak test or flow test that way.
One other test. Pinch off fuel return hose, the one coming off the fuel pressure regulator flying saucer thing and going back to the tank, and see if the idle smooths out any. Diagnostic for leaking regulator, which could lower fuel pressure, making the most clogged injector cylinders lean out enough to miss.
Does this happen from cold start to warm idle, or just when it's heated up?

Happens from cold start to through warm idle to running temp. Where can I purchase BG44K? That pretty much elim's bad regulator, since the cold start enrichment doesn't cover up the lean out. BG44K can be had from some autozones and advance auto parts. Think they have a web site with retailers and shops.

Well, I think it might be a head gasket. Tell me if I am headed in the right direction. Went back and pulled the plug wires one by one to see the power drop. When I pulled the plug wire on five of the cylinders there was a drop in power. When I pulled the wire going to the front cylinder on the right hand side, there was not much loss in power at all. The antifreeze has oil in it. I am going to go back and check the compression. I will try it wet and dry to rule out rings. With oil in the antifreez, I bet it is a head gasket. With only 1200 miles on the remanufactured engine, I do not think I will find a burnt valve. What do you think?

Sounds like a head gasket........ and another poorly remanufactured 3.0L engine.
