I am sorry I have not posted in a while I hope you all are doing well.
I want to change my coolant in my 1998 Rodeo. I bought a Haynes manual, which says nothing, along with the owners manual and I just wanted to ask if anyone has any suggestions, such as where to drain the coolant from etc. I did a search but could not find the topic, although Im sure it has been brought up before!
When i change my oil I tried to look for a petcock but cant remember seeing one?
Thanks!

Actually I found a mention of a plastic drain plug in the radiator and two plugs in the engine. Is this something I can do? I just spent 3 months repairing the radiator on my Italian car just to have the petcock leaking! I dont want that t happen on the Isuzu! Can anyone point out where the engine block plugs are and how to replace them without leaking. this radiator plug is plastic i guess do you need to use some kind of sealant on it or does it have a gasket???
Thanks,

No sealant needed. And you really don't need to drain it all out of the block, you can if you really want to.
I've always just replaced the upper and lower hoses at the same time as a coolant change, that way you've got new coolant and new hoses.
The plastic petcock on the lower tank of the radiator has a rubber o-ring on it. All you'll need to do is open it and open the top of the rad. and drian all the coolant. Keep away from pets (toxic), take it to a parts place and they will recycle it.
Then fill back up and you should be good to go. I like a 50/50 in the winter and a 70 water/30 coolant in the summer.

take it to a parts place and they will recycle it. Must be alot better where you live then in Denver. Last time I had coolant to get rid of I couldnt find anywhere that would take it. The city says its ok for home owners to pour it down a sink drain but I dont like that. It ended up riding around in the back of my p/u long enough it all leaked out of the milk jug I had it in so it got spread out all over the city. Was from my m'cycle so only 1 gallon. Now I just pay someone to flush the system, cant be bothered to do it myself anymore <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

In my town there is a hazardous waste drop off day they give out drain containers and everything so thats not a problem. I drained the system today and ended up with only less than 2 gallons the book says it holds 11.1 quarts. I guess the rest is in the engine. I looked for the engine block drain plugs and for the life of me I could not find them. I guess I will just drain and fill a couple of more times when I do the oil. The plug was only hand tight, that was cool. I guess I have beeen working on Italian cars to much!
Can anyone point me to those drain plugs or shoot a pic?
You guys rock thanks for the help!
