Never have had the hood scoops in the US...you see them commonly on pics from other countries. Maybe it comes with a turbodiesel engine? Not sure...

4.77s were usually on 89 RS Troopers, and some LWB 1st gen Troopers with the "Big Tire" option package. They also came on one or two other oddball models, I don't recall which though.

Swede is correct on the Turbodiesel having the hood scoop.

The '89 RS (2-dr SWB) is the most definitive answer as to lcoating 4.77s... The model is rare, but all of them had the covented 4.77s. Beyond that, there are more oddball years/models, but the criteria is often debated. You'll have a hard time searching for a staight answer on definitively locating those.

Here's the big question in regards to the gears ... which year trooper? Earlier 2nd Gens used essentially the same 12 bolt as 1st Gens, just different suspension mounts. Mid(?) to late 2nd Gens had the modified 12 bolt, bigger ring/pinion, axle shafts.

I'm pretty sure none of the 2nd Gen Troopers came with 4.77's.

The only Troopers with 4.77's were '89 RS models
and LWB ones with the "big tire & wheel package" (31x10.5x15). The years would have been '87-'91.

All second gen Troopers have either 4.56's or 4.30's.
