Performance-wise, how are e-code halogen lamp housings different from DOT ones? The only thing I could drag out of the Hella rep was that DOT is legal and ECE isn't..... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

E-code has a better, more even beam pattern. You can get DOT housings with sharp low beam cutoffs, like the Hella Vision Plus. More info on the Daniel Stern site:

I used to run a set of non-DOT Hellas (not sure if they were e-code or not) back in the '80s and now run a set of DOT Hellas and they seem to be very similar.

One thing to watch for w/ e-code lamps is to not get any made for use in countries that drive on the other side of the road, they won't work in the US.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I got the autopal ecodes off of ebay.They look stock except they dont have the alignment bumps.Beam is sharp and square,and with the 55/100 bulbs it lights up the night
