What Engine do you have? AX-5 if it's a 4 cyl, AX-15 if it's a six, they didn't put AX-15's on sixes in wranglers 'till mid 89 but lots of people replaced ba-10s with them it looks like an AX-15.

4.2 I6 .I too think it is the ax15,however it has ATF for fluid in it now, haynes manuel says to use gl5 is this correct?.The tranny has been swapped out with a rebuilt unit but this was done before i purchased it.

The Factory Service Manual says use 6.75 pints of API GL5/SAE75W-90 oil in a 4wd version AX-15. I'd get that ATF out of there pronto! The T-case uses ATF. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Arctic circle?, ATF. otherwise I use 80-90 durablend 1/2 synth. The trans will be 100% destroyed w/atf in a normal climate.
