Getting the Wheeling Fever
Can anyone tell me if they have had a rattle when the engine is a certain RPMs ? I think I have found the location of the noise (between the engine and dash) but when I check the heat shield it seems to be tight? This noise is driving me nuts.

That's exactly what mine had. I told my muffler guy about when he was putting a new muffler. He replicated it by beating on the exhaust pipe. Then he stuck a broom handle up in and pressed on the shield quieting the rattle, confirming the location. He tacked a weld on it and it's been fine since. Thank god, cause it was really annoying.

A DIY fix is to put a hose clamp around the cracked shield. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

yes it seems to be worse when its cold. When you hammer the gas it goes away but if you push on the gas gently it really rattles

my heat shield had some broken spot welds. Removed the crossover pipe, and rewelded it.

I think I have this problem too, its almost like whistling when really, really cold..and goes away when everything is warmed up.

I put a hose clamp on mine a year ago. Instantly got rid of the noise and it still sounds good- no rattling.
