Getting the Wheeling Fever
Has anyone bought a set of Warner manual hubs (part#28761) and installed them on their T100 that has the auto hubs? Warner is telling me that I need the spindle nut kit (part#29918) but some of the articles on this forum suggest that I do not need any kits, just bolt them on?

T100 did not come with "auto" hubs, they're drive flanges, no kit needed, although i suggest you get some ASIN hubs on ebay or junkyard, because the warn hubs tend to shear the studs/centering pins off, they dont turn as smooth, stick out alot further and are not as strong...you can pick some up online for $50, make sure you get the cone washers with them, these help keep the hub tight.

I've had a pair of Warn hubs on my truck for the last 5 years with no problems. They do stick out a lot farther than the Aisin hubs. Either one will work, and the Aisins are available used. I see them in the for sale section every couple of months.

You want warn premium hubs they are built much better, but aisins are overall the best.

I've had the Warn's on for 3 years now with no problems. They go on quick and easy once you get the cone washers off the old ADD system. Also, no hassels with the cone washers anymore.

Jake's experience with the Warn's is more common than not, especially if you use 4wd very often. I've seen it on all the Toyota's I've worked on that had them (at least 4 that I can think of), including my own so I know they were maintained halfway decently. I swapped them out for Aisins.

The factory hub retention design (using cone washers) is far superior, and doesn't NEED any maintenance. Factory Aisin hubs are definitely the best way to go for a Toyota. Yes, the cone washers can be a pain to remove if you don't use anti-seize on them, but they were designed that way on purpose! This is why they use the same retention system on all-important steering components on Dana and Toyota axles (and probably others).

I like the Warn Premiums on my D44, but they don't have any bolts to loosen up. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

The metal seemed fairly soft on the warn hubs, although they're tight one day, the next time you put it in 4wd they loosen up again...
