so i have a 96' t100 with the 3.4L in it.(Bone stock for now)i jsut hit 225,000 miles, i burn NO OIL, and NO ANTIFREEZE.also all my major gaskets are sealed tight. head gasket,valve cover, manifold. does anyone know what the expectancy life of an engine like this?

Mine is similar, but burns a little bit of oil (not any more than it ever has though). I see no indication that these things aren't going to last another several hundred thousand miles. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

With proper maintenance and no abuse the 3.4 should go >500K without major component failure.

I have almost 200k on mine, bought it with 175k on it. The only thing that bugs me is the oil pressure drops pretty low on the meter when it warms up. It purrs and pulls though.

My original motor died at 156k. It threw a cam threw the front of the head. I beleave it to be because the original owner didn't change the oil very often. But the new motor has run great ever since.

Mine just turned 132k, it has develpoed a bit of an oil leak at what seems to be the rear main. also have the tapping of a lifter I suppose should get that done soon.

Honestly I have about 60k now, its a reman from yota thanks to the PO. But the trans has 189k..
