Besides the known, ex..broken cv's etc., will an ifs rig pass the Rubicon and have plenty of fun doing it? I know, sas, sas, sas....But, who's done it, and any thoughts? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Never been there.
But.
There are TTORA members with IFS, and new FJCruisers with IFS that finished it unscaved.
Should at least have a locker (or 2), and experience.

Ran it about 10-12 times, 4-dice a number of times and the Dusy a couple of times while IFS. Makes you a better wheeler if/when you go SAS.

its the same with hot rodders. i've seen hotrods and what not with 600hp motors get spanked by 283s with maybe 300hp
the car with 283's had lower tranny gears and lower diff gears with a spool and simply utilized the full rpm range and quick shifts and made it to the end sooner. it was even clocked at 7 mph slower, but half a second faster.
its all about gears and lines with these babys. lower that ratio, lock up the axles, and you have incredable torque ratings, easier controlled speeds, and double the traction.
its like being the biggest badest pitcher alive, but how good his he with out the other 8 players?
92' Pick-up, SAS, gears to make her crawl, 37's , bullet proof motor, and alot of time invested. 06 CRF450R one mean roost flinging machine

You will definately want rocksliders, a good front bumper, a good rear bumper(with side wraps), a good solid skid plate, preferably a rear locker, and a second t-case. The last two aren't vital, but will make your trip more enjoyable. A few yrs ago in a buddies rig we did about 1/2 of it 2wd, some by choice and most by force(blew a birf at Buick Island and didn't want to change it out until we goy to Spider Lake).
When you do run it, try and set aside atleast 4 days, it can be done in a weekend, and some do it in a day, but running it this way will take a toll on your truck and you.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed
