IIRC, it'll run you bout $20-$30 for the bearing. i think i paid like $37 for a centerforce throwout bearing when i did a clutch job on my rig a couple of years ago. the price could be more by now but i'm sure someone who has done one recently will chime in.

well an educated guess. It sounds like something rolling around when i am at idle. Push the clutch in and it goes away. When is 1st through 4th its also loud, it sounds like a rumbling. its pretty loud!!!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi, this is not likely to be a throwout bearing problem. It is far more likely to be a transmission problem. Provide a more detailed description of the noise. If it sounds like an old roller skate, it likely that the mainshaft bearing is worn. The noise you describe could also be a loose flywheel.

its a loud rumbling,i really dont know how to explain it. It has gotten worse. I need to take it, i dont know the first thing about trannys. Its the loudest in 1st and second gear. It sounds like rocks in a trash can. The only time it is quite is when it is 4th or 5th or the clutch is in.

Body Damage is Cool
Input bearing is going.I found a good used trans.Replacing it this week. Having someone do it for you and the replacement cost will be substantial.

Nope, not likely the throwout bearing, unless the clutch is miadjusted, throw out bearings only spin when the clutch pedal in pushed in.

X2 on the input bearing being the most likely cause.

This sounds like the Input Shaft Bearing in your tranny.
You may what to check and make sure you have enough fluid.

If it is your tranny you will notice that 5th gear maybe the loudest and 4th gear may be the quietest.

Do a quick search on input shaft bearing or tranny rebuild.
Here is a link to a D.I.Y. rebuild.

Good luck....
