A couple of Questions - Diff Drop and Wheel Size #784278 01/29/07 04:55 AM

Need a Spot
I searched the forum on the first question, and couldn't find it.

I saw on some web site awhile ago and couldn't remember who sells it, but it was a Diff drop bracket for the front axle on a Trooper. I have a 94 Trooper that I have lifted, and I wanted to ease up the angle on the axles on the front. the bracket in question lowered the front diff about 2 -3" to "straighten" out the axles a bit.
I saw someone selling such, but I can't find where. I thought it was DOR, but the web site seems to be not working.
Anyone know what I am talking about, or where to get it?>

Second one:
Currently I have 32" tires on the 16" factory wheels. I was wanting to go to 35" tires on some aftermarket wheels. I was thinking of using a 15" wheel, one for cost and second because there seem to be alot of tire options.
My question is:
Will the 15" wheel fit correctly (no rubbing on calibers or such), or should I go with a 16" wheel?

Thanks for any help in advance

DOR was the place; but Joe had to close up shop for awhile secondary to military duties. BTW, his drop diff brackets were for 1.5". I did my own at 1.25" and they have worked extremely well. Not a hard project, just time consuming and requires welding.

I have 15"x8" wheels with 3.75" backspacing, they fit fine.

You might have some issues fitting 35" tires depending on lift, though. I have a little bit of rubbing up front with a 3.25" suspension lift. I don't want a body lift, so the sawzall is coming out soon <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

I think that 1.5 inches is approaching the absolute maximum that you can do without hitting the steering.

Since we're on the subject, I am thinking of getting drop brackets made...what drop do you guys recommend for a 93 Trooper? 1.5"? Or would 1.25" reduce the need for a lot of "clearancing"?

Yeah.. after researching it more, and crawling under my truck, there is a steering link that runs right under it, so Max drop would be about 1.5 inches, and even that is freaking close. 1.25 would give plenty of ballroom.

Anyone have any stock brackets from a SAS that they would want to sell me? I would rather cut a 2nd pair than the first ones in case something "goes" wrong. Plus, it looks like its not the easiest thing to remove either. I dont want to spend most of the day at Pick A Part...
