I just made an offer and a small deposit on a '95 Land Cruiser. Will likely own it by Monday.
That will bring an end to the mini-truck era for me and usher in a whole new experience.
My truck will likely be for sale when the new Toy comes home (no place to store it) and that brings mixed feelings for me. I hate to let it go. So many fond memories, so many trips, SOOOOO many bloody darn hours in the garage.... And way too many trips to the ATM machine...that's for sure.
If I could figure out a place to park it, I'd probably keep it. Heck I'd almost rather have it as yard decoration than sell it, but 4 vehicles is 1 too many, so it will unfortunately likely have to be sold.
The Land Cruiser will be built with road trips and expeditions in mind rather than hardcore wheeling, so suspension mods will be kept to a minimum. I will possibly add my 33" tires to the LC with no or minimal lift, but that will be the extent of it.
This one didn't have lockers, so eventually, I'll probably put ARB in the rear diff. The front diff will remain open and stock for now. I also plan to add an ARB bullbar, winch and a roofrack, and possibly some sliders. But I don't plan to go too crazy on the exterior and weight will be kept reasonable. Most of the good stuff will be in the inside, where I got some plans and ideas.
I guess I can't really post any updates here when I get started on this project since it's the mini-truck section, but check out my website in the coming months if you're interested.

If the sale of it isn't necessary for the Cruiser I would keep it, and have two rigs, one for bashing and one for expeditions.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

If the sale of it isn't necessary for the Cruiser I would keep it, and have two rigs, one for bashing and one for expeditions. The biggest problem is where to park/store it and paying the insurance on 4 vehicles. I don't necessarly need to sell it to buy the Cruiser, but the extra money would nice to pay for Cruiser goodies. I know whaw you mean, though. I'd hate sell a perfectly good rig that I have so much time and money into that I'll never get out of it.

Might check with your insurance company to see what the extra amount would be for the 4 vehicles.. With my insurance company (USAA), when there's more vehicles than drivers, the extra amount isn't that much for the extra vehicle. The rates are based on mileage driven and value of the vehicle at risk..
When you designate the lowest value vehicle as your primary daily/work driver and put the extra vehicles for pleasure use only, it seems to drop all the rates.
e.g. my wife's '88 camry is her daily driver and her new '06 Pruis is for pleasure use only.. We decided to keep the old vehicle since she has to leave it in a park and ride lot for her work commute and comes in handy for hauling dirty stuff.

Yeah, I would also get a new quote before you write it off as too expensive. The only reason I had to get rid of my '94 pickup was to help pay for the 4Runner. School and work left large demands for confortable highway commuting and little time for offroading. USAA was actually great about insuring both trucks at the same time, while I transitioned between them. I regret selling my truck, although I know I had to. I got a fair price, but if I had the $, I would have kept both. Just do some research before you do something you might regret later.

when i went from 1 to 2 vehicles on my insurance policy, my yearly rate only went up 300 bucks. granted that it is for liablity only, but it shouldn't be that much...
your truck is pretty sick. i could never bring myself to sell mine, and i dont have nearly as much in it as you do.
but then again, i still cant let go of my '94 saab that i rolled. maybee its just me

I considered selling my 86 4runner or my 87 Mustang(4 cyl. DD). I just can't bring myself to do either! LOL
I'd let you park it at my house but you're in Oregon and I'm in Texas!

Nothing dark about that, except that 4x4wire doesn't have as much action in their Landcruiser forum. Does it have the 1FZFE 4.5L inline six? I've heard that it's like an oversized 2JZ Supra motor, with bulletproof internals and huge potential for power upgrades. Here's an aftermarket twin turbo set-up: And some Ozzies Dragin a mid-seventies Toyota Crown with a massive turbo set-up on a 1FZ motor. ![[Linked Image]](http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/992/compakattakiq8.jpg)

I don't know what happened to the images in my previous post, but see them if you like souped up Toyota motors. -- Matt
