Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am trying to replace my ball joints on a 93 rodeo and can't figure out how to get the lower one off of the steering knuckle. I have it loose but it wont pull out becuase the back of the wheel where the cv boot slips over will not allow it to. I dont want to have to take the entire wheel assembly off to do this. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. Remove hub face
2. Remove snap ring on end of axle shaft inside of hub
3. pull axle away from hub assembly/toward diff

That should give you enough clearance. If not, go ahead and unhook the tie rod and upper ball joint as well and the entire knuckle/hub assembly will come off in one piece. Watch your toes!

[edit] You'll want to take off the brake caliper as well if you have to pull the whole thing.

Easiest way I removed mine last was with a torch <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

when I replaced mine they were a mother to get out of the control arm so just take a hammer to the side of it and it will fall right out.

Thanks for all your help guys. Pulling the axle out of the hub a bit did the trick.
