Erik is right - the Taco has more horse power than the T100.
The Taco doesn't have a box frame so I'm guessing a C frame.

How much influence does GM design have on the new Tacoma, looks like the Colorado.

Its built a lot like the Colorado too (or any domestic truck for that matter).
I agree with that statement- "More engine, less truck." Its definitely built more car-like. There were a bunch of pictures posted of the undercarriage in the Early Toy section when the new Taco first came out. The belly is low and the exhaust is even lower and looks very vulnerable to damage. Its probably not something that would be a decent platform to start building a serious offroad rig either, like pretty much all of the previous Toys have been.

Depends where you want to go "off-road". The Hammers? Probably not. But from Alaska to Tierra Del Fuego? You could with this one - ![[Linked Image]](http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g230/devildoc25/100_1120.jpg)

Creeper,
That's what i'm thinking of doing to my new truck... ARB bumper - I ordered the BGF AT KO's already, but can't make up my mind on the Warn trans4mer or the ARB which I might modify to have a front reciever.

Well I sure hope they relocated the exhaust, put a skid plate over the plastic gas tank, and upgraded the teeny tiny tie rods. But I doubt they did any of that. It looks like it may even have a lift on it but still has less belly clearance than an older Toy did in stock form (like the T100). I'm sure that truck "could" make that trip, but I'd feel FAR more confident driving an older stockish Toy offroad than that one! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.brian894x4.com/Tempnewtaco06.JPG) ![[Linked Image]](http://www.brian894x4.com/Tempnewtaco08.JPG) More pics/discussion on the Taco: http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB11&Number=626459

I did some more research and posting over on TTORA and have found out ...
The ARB has a crumple zone to it so when your in an accident the airbag sensors will operate after the correct amount of crush, if you have a solid bumper to frame setup that will or could happen much faster
- two issues with that, you might not be in the part of the impact (it's not over yet) when the bags deploy, second they could deploy on lighter hits.
BTW - I think the shrock looks better but the ARB is safer, and it was designed for throwing critter torso's off your car to avoid damage. It isn't for 4x4 hi performance as much as damage control and self recover (because of weight). At the end of the day this is the driving I do - Deer!!! too many Deer.
