I installed one on my 84 when I was running the 258. It worked great, got rid of the hesitation off the line. Now I,ve switched to a 304 V8 and put a HEI in it also. It actually ran good with the Duraspark system, mostly I wanted to get rid of a lot of wires and the 3 seperate locations for the ignition components. As Big Jim has mentioned many times the stock system was developed for the rig and it works, however many of them are 20 plus years old and many people decide not to replace older parts, which would fix the ignition problems also.

As oldg has said a good working factory dist cannot be improved on! If yours is worn out perhaps a new factory one would be cheaper and any parts easier to get? An HEI will not improve anything if yours is satisfactory now.
