1. What is the purpose/reason for wet sanding.
2. What can I use to repair a plastic bumper? Would Bondo work?

Need a Spot
ok so far i know about wet sanding gets the minor blemishes and mistakes made by the clear coat paint and it gives it that smooth glossy look for the most part. and if you try to bondo plastic its not going to work once it hardens if it even sticks to the plastic while hardening, if you twist or move the bumper it will crack the bondo right off id say fiberglass it would be the best that i can think of

1. What is the purpose/reason for wet sanding.

Purpose: To get rid of minor blemishes such as orange peel or small runs in the clear, or even the base coat. The reason for WET sanding is dry sanding tends to clod the paper much quicker and isn't as effective at removing the particles that are being sanded off. The water allows the particles to flow away from the paper and the work area.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
To fix your plastic bumper I would use 3m panel bond you would have to go to your local auto paint supply store.
