This past weekend(Feb 2-4)I flew down to AZ to see my bro before he shipped overseas to Korea...army, thats another story.
But anyhow, Flew into Tuscon hit hwy90 and headed to Sierra Vista were we met my bro at Fort Huachuca (phonetically: wachuka). Saw some awesome Gold Mines/Junk Yards, 85 efi sr5 yotas immaculate, all on the way in, I have pictures... I now *heart* traveling! I've ALWAYS wanted to go West, it was the "bomb" (can i still use that word?...)
Was quite a change from the non-predictable TN weather, and I loved it!

We (me, mom, and bro) went to the OK Corral and watched all of the shenanigans, and visited a store or two to get some souvenirs, ate at Big Nose Kates and listened to a local play the piano and crack jokes, quite humorous. Oh yeah, while my brother was looking at the menu one of the folks that works there took his gun out and pointed at the menu over my brothers shoulder and tapped it on the table and walked off, it was kinda random and funny.
After that we went back to his house, and waited for the shippers to get his car and take it to good ole TN.

Later we went to the town of Bisbee, where the rocks are more valuable than trucks. It was pretty cool there, I saw this one fellow walking around with a dog, normal eh? I thought so too till I did a double take and saw that a cat was sitting on the dogs back and a mouse was on the cats back! I have a picture of that too.. It one of the more amusing things I've seen in a while. For a couple dollars he'd pose them and make them do a little trick..
Soon after my mom was in the jewelry shops....blah blah, boring boring...
Then we went to the Bisbee mines(closed down) got to see all of the huge equipment and old truck and things just sitting around not being used. It was a hole in the ground, nothing to compare to the Grand Canyon according to my bro, we didn't get to make it out there..
The rest of the time we spent near Coronado Park and checking out the border patrol and gazing into Mexico and checking out the local town..
Overall a really great time, I recommend AZ to ANYONE..(that has a 4x4) some of the roads were crazy! Few main paved roads. The only part I regret is leaving.
I'll get some pics up later..

That's funny!

SOunds like you had a cool time. The pictures sound interesting. Get on that.

I got to spend 2 weeks in AZ (PHX and Tolleson) once for an assignment, but didn't get to see much more than Alice Cooperstown, The Jungle, an In n Out , a dairy, and a warehouse. I'd love to go back to actually 'visit'

No! Don't listen. Stay home. It's too hot down here!

Oddly enough I was in Tombstone (the town too tough to die) and Bisbee (the Town too stoned to care) this weekend too. I went on a drive about. I ended up in Portal and then hit the interstate home. I moved out here from Nashville 11 years ago. I miss the South (I think it's barbaric that you have to sweeten your tea by the glass out here!). AZ is as different from TN as you can get...TN is a gentle, comfortable landscape and AZ is a harsh, unforgiving, starkly beautiful landscape.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
love the tucson area and south of tucson some of the best looking desert Ive ever seen. Love the storms in the summer. I live in california and cant stand it. Would love to move back to tucson where I was born, but Wifie needs her mommy so thats that. I did go whitetail hunting last oct. down by the border in the town of Sasebee however you spell it. I like offroading and guns and the laws around here are getting harsh.

Thought about it; thought some more about it. I had the privilege of training the AZANG while down there when they got rid of their A7's and picked up F16's. Great outfit.

Nope. Sold my property in Marana. Trails are great; visiting my Aunt and Uncle is great.

1. Right-to-work state
2. Too hot
3. Too Kalifornican

I'm happy to play tourist and do some backroadin'.

Visit Maderas Canyon and Arivaca next time you go down thar.

Looks like you had a good time. I did that trip with the wife about 8 years ago.
