I keep seeing these things when I'm driving around and can't help but think it would work on a Toyota.

I was thinking I could cut a hole in the bed and mount it in the bed of my truck.
Something like this behind the passenger side of the cab:

It would probably sit alot lower that what I photoshopped in there, but thats the general idea.

I've got a 3" body lift and don't see a problem running some 3" or 3.5" pipe to the engine bay and up to the AFM/throttle body. Still debating if the big air cleaner can would be above or below the hole in the bed, I guess I'd need one to get ahold of one 1st.

So, what do ya think?

I doubt that would work well at all. You'd loose way too much air along the 3 or 4 foot of hose you'd need to hook up to the TB. You would need some really sharp bends in the tubing as well. But it would definetly look cool <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
You could always mount it here like I did on my Nissan.

Yeah, I'm just putting some thoughts together before I decide to go anywhere with the idea.

As long as you don't choke off (reduce the 3" diameter) there's nothing wrong with that setup as far as airflow. The static loss from any extra 90's should be negated by the increase in the size of the pipe. Besides I think it looks much better behind the cab.

If you're worried about it loosing airflow you can buy a Magnehelic gauge for about $30 at Grainger's and take a static reading on your current setup. The best place would be at the Carb/TB airbox. Just make sure you take your readings at a fixed RPM (like 2,500) and not at idle. Make your changes with the new pipe and then take another reading at the same location. If the static pressure increases then you've restricted the pipe.
