Need a Spot
I've got an ignition bug. when I leave my jeep parked outside in the cold (+10 to -20 in colorado) it's starts right up, if I park in the heated garage at work it cranks fine but doesn't spark until I start to let off starter, then it usually runs a couple minutes and dies immediately. It takes about 30 seconds of cranking to hit the right 'spot' where the engine gets spark. It also dies randomly and sporadically when driving? Any thoughts?
Runs great otherwise.

Replace the fuel filter first.

replaced fuel filter and tank less than 1 month ago, also rebuilt entire carb 2 weeks ago. I had a filter problem once before and seemed to 'surge down' to stall, this is instant

It is hard to troubleshoot a vehicle that seems to have the entire electric system replaced with aftermarket stuff.
If it was a stock system I'd be looking at the coil and the points/cond if it had em and the sparkbox if it didn't.

Timing, can cause hard starts at various temps. Take the
cap off the dist. and see if their is any play in the
dist. shaft (side to side). If so the bushings are probally
worn. But the problem seems ignition to me. Unless the
accel. pump in the carb. is bad or leaking. Fuel supply
problems would not clear up an run fine sometimes.
