I just bought a TBI spacer and a Jacobs Pro Street Energy Pak, Ultra coil and uphill power module from a fellow 4x4 wire member and should get the stuff this week. My question is...I know that they suggest using heavier plug wires and I have looked at the Jacobs wires which I can get for around $63-65 plus shipping. I found the magnecor site last night and was reading all their stuff about how much better their wires are and I can get a set for the trooper shipped for $80. Have any of you guys had experience with either of these brands or should I go to O'reilly's or Auto Zone and buy the best they offer. It appears (from Magnecor) that there is a great difference in what they manufacture as opposed to everyone else. Any thoughts or good advice? Would this be a worthwhile investment or not? I want to get the most out of this Jacobs pak. Thanks, Mark

Buy a Trooper. You'll be glad you did.

Taylor Spiro Pro are good...but I would be tempted to go with the Jacobs so if something fries they can't blame it on the other guy's wires.

I used Taylor's best and they leaked after 1 year. The only thing that lasts with my Jacobs ignition is the MSD stuff and I buy it bulk. Copper Core plugs gaped to .065. Never tried the Jacobs wires, bulk from Jegs or Summit was cheaper. Gapping pliers are nice to have also. Good Luck

Yes. I have 3 running 2.8L Troopers in the family. I buy 25 feet of the 8.5mm wire for $38 and can make two sets for a 2.8l engine. The boots and terminals are top quality and dont leak when your jacobs coil is firing plugs gaped at .065. John

Definitely get something that can handle the voltage...I had an old Jacobs Omnipak coil on a previous vehicle, and it fried the coil wire...I had to remove the wiring and reinstall the stock coil wires I had thankfully saved as backups...at night, on the side of the freeway, in a snowstorm.

I remember hearing about the Jacobs Ignitions and it eating the Isuzu distributor caps.
This may have been only an issue for the 2.6 as I'm sure there is a performance cap for the 2.8 family of engines.

Yeah, that was me. Here's two people that had problems. It's an issue for me because it's hard to replace the cap on the 2.6 due to it's location. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have worried about it. Many of the beefed up ignitions also sell beefed up caps, but not for less common engines like the Isuzu 2.6. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB68&Number=637888
