I've never swapped a motor, but I have a bit of mechanical skill. I already plan on it being alot of work so dont try to talk me out of it, and dont tell me to have a shop do it, because I really dont want to spend a bunch of extra money on something i can do myself. I have a 2006 TJ w/ a 4banger & 6-speed manual tranny (cheapest model). I would like to swap in a carborated 350 V8 and SM420 or NP435. I dont know what to do about the transfercase. I dont really have a clue on what kind of adapters or how to make it all fit and work. Anyone have some advice?

Sounds like you're determined to ruin a good Jeep! Call Novak and/orAdvance Adapters and tell them what you plan, they might be able to sell you what you need in the way of mounts and t-case options. Good luck!

So what you really want is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup? What in the world do you plan on doing with the rig when you do get it rebuilt? If offroading or rock climbing. You will be waaaay ahead to simply trade that one off for a rubicon! If mall riding or hiwaying you will be waaaay better off trading that one off for a rubicon! If saving money is what you have in mind you will be waaaay better off trading that one off for a rubicon! In short unless that one is already WRECKED and you have an entire fab shop you will be waaaay ahead to trade it off for a rubicon!! Big JIm

I think Pete & Jim pretty much said it all, unless it is already trashed. But also, once you have a 350 in there you can expect to break every piece of your drive train as soon as you get on the skinney pedal anywhere except the street. And you're going from a good fuley system to a carb?? What do you want to do with it? The 2.5L is a great off road vehicle.

One other quick comment too, Check your states emission laws. Most places wonÆt let you put an older engine in a newer rig, with out still passing the newer emission requirements.
And yeah, if you plan on throwing the additional power to the Jeep, you will need to change out the front and rear axles too, or at least you will need to after a few trips on the trails when you destroy both of your axles. The standard cut Dana 30 up front and the Dana 35 in the rear just arenÆt designed for a small block.
Basically the right way to do what you want to do is have a running ¢ or ¥ ton full size truck with a small block in it and swap the whole drive train into your jeep, which to me sounds like a waste to do with a new jeep even if it does have a 4 cyl in it, unless the current drive train in your jeep is already junk for some reason.

an easier swap would be one of them 4.0's stroked to 4.6 it has 270hp and 295lb/ft, thats more power then you'll know what to do with

First off i didnt ask what you thought about my plan, i asked for advice on how to make it work. i want to put a V8 in my jeep. i hate 4bangers. y the hell would i go for a rubicon when i would end up replacing all the addons that go with it anyways? im not trading this thing. this is my toy. my money hole. i dont care how much money i throw at it. i just dont want to waste extra money/time trying to figure everything out. so plz dont waste my time again trying to sell me on a rubicon.

Ok So what you ahve now is a modern town car! It is computerized and all the parts work together. In order to put a V-8 in there you will need the engine, tranny, transfer case, rear end and all the brackets and parts mounted on the engine. Now you will have to install motor mounts, tranny-transfer case mounts and cross members under the Jeep to make all that fit the frame. THEN you will have to have driveshafts made to fit! Ok so now it is in there...now NONE of the guages will work! So extensive parts swapping will have to be done to get them to work. Now you will have to have ALL the exhaust system made new to fit. I havn't started to talk about the brake system yet have I? So now you have more money spent than trading for a rubicon would cost you! And the vehicle you are riding will be behind a rubicon ANYWHERE YOU GO! Oh yeah, you have not said where you are located have you? If you have vehicle inspections where ever that is... you just may not be able to get that thing inspected ever again! Big JIm
