I added a winch up front and now the front shackles easily contact the frame when I hit bumps. I need to go a little longer but don't want to change the pinion angle drastically. I have 3/8 mild steel to do the job and think that "wide body" style would be acceptable, but what do I use for the spacer? Any other considerations I should take into account? Would 1.5" longer than stock work?

look for 4crawler on here and just buy his front shackles.
not expensive and really built nice.

I am going to be ordering my second set from him soon. for my wifes truck.. it is a little stiff right now.. grin.

I have the springs, cross over, hydro cylinders.
need shackles front and rear and a steering box to tap....
wife is going to love...... the increased travel, ride quality... lol... easy of turning.. blush.

OK, but that didn't answer my questions. I want to make my own. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

I used some thick walled tubing (.250) and a washer against the spring bushing. What springs do you have, sounds like they maybe worn out.

I make the wide body shackle spacers out of 1-3/4" round steel rod, they are available separately:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/Shackles.shtml#OrderingInfo

You can also stack up two slabs of 3/8" steel on each side and grind off about 0.050" off the face to make your own (overall thickness is 0.700").

Thanks Roger, I thought it was that simple, I just didnt want to miss something.
Springs are 2" lift BDS YJ springs and are not worn out. There just isn't enough shackle travel.

The YJ springs ae about 1/8" wider than the Toyota, so you'll need to thin the spacers down to match. Just measure the width of the shackle hanger (w/ bushings) and the width of the spring eye (w/ bushings) and halve the difference for the spacer thickness. Ideally you want the side plates perfectly parallel for maximum bushing life.
