Getting the Wheeling Fever
I had my 93 rodeo in for an alignment today and on the way home I noticed it still had a little play in the steering. I got home and jacked the front end up and grabbed a hold of the center link and noticed there was a lot of movement. The idler arm looks to be loose where it tightens up to the shaft (not the center link). There is a gap between the two and looks like it needs to be tightened up. My question is should I tighten it all the way up or should there be a space in between? If I need to tighten it up what is the torque specifications? Thanks for any help.

Yes, there should be *some* space between the Idler Arm and the Sector Shaft Cylinderà (roughly) an 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch (give or take).



This probably only applies if youÆve been 4-wheeling yours pretty hard, but hereÆs another possibilityà

If you are seeing a ælobe-likeÆ movement, where the Idler Arm seems to be moving up-and-down while the steering is in motion (rather than making a clean & even / side-to-side sweep), itÆs possible that you might have a bent Sector Shaft and therefore would need to replace your Idler Relay Lever.
