91 22re 5spd 4runner.

I have tried cleaning and reassembling my Dash pot but the thing just keeps sticking even after i hit it with a shot of silicon spray. so i want to replace it.
Any suggestions of where i might find this obscure part?
I know the stealership will have it. anywhere else?
just so we can all celebrate knowledge a dash pot is there to slow the closing of the throttle to prevent backfiring. yay!
Cheers

If you want it new probably only the dealer. Just go to a "U-Pick" yard and get a used one for probably $2. While your there something else may catch your eye.

The boot on my ripped about 7 years ago. Which is how long I've gone without one.

I've never quite understood the purpose of it, but I know that my rig runs fine without it.

The dash pot prervents the throttle slamming shut when shifting. When replacing there is a bit of an adjustment procedure. Auto trans units don't have the dash pot.

neither of my trucks have one anymore. its not really a big deal, nor does it cause backfiring. it's just a little more jerky if you let off the throttle quickly.

When I replaced mine, it required no adjustment...simple bolt-on replacement.

I don't know about the 22R, but I tried to buy one for my 3.0 at the dealership and they said they can't get them anymore.

I've never had it backfire once.
