Did you hear any nasty grinding or metal breaking sounds while you were driving around in the snow? It sounds to me like either part of your linkage that works the rear shift fork broke or bent, or you did some serious damage to the t-case. Is it leaking?

I would take a real close look at your linkage before you pull it. There should be 2 shafts moving in and out of the T-case when you move the shift lever. You may have just damaged part of the linkage and are only moving the front shift fork. You may need to pull the case too, but its a lot easier to lay under the jeep and have someone shift it before you pull it.

I found the problem the set screw in the shift fork came loose
if Im thinking correctly in goes into what apears to be a locating hole at the end of the shift rod
PS thanks for the advice and help
