I'm not trying to start a marlin vs trail gear. I just find that Trail gear arms are less expensive.
Family comes first so I have to go with pricing.
anyone use trail gears high steer kit and what do you feel about the performance?
I did search some and didn't find what I was looking for.
I also found some one selling Kongs with a pitman arm set up for chevy TRE's. would chevy TRE's fit into marlin's tierods?
I wouldn't want to spend $$ and have to get custom trierods to work with chevy TRE's. I already have my Marlin Rods.
I found another guy selling a complete high steer kit from sky for $300...what you think? Not sure which way to go.

Mod's feel free to move this thread if you feel it shouldn't be in this thread. It will be going on a 1980 toyota 4x4.

I don't have any firsthand experience with the Trail Gear arms but I have heard about fitment issues with them. The KONGS arms don't sound like a good option for you either if you want to use FJ80 tie rod ends. Personally I like OTT arms, but they are more expensive than other options out there. Sky's stuff is cheap, but they seem to release product and refine later based on the number of revisions to their arms. I would save up for the Marlin's if I were you or just keep waiting until a good deal comes up for Marlin, All-Pro, OTT, or FROR arms.

I have a personal bias; I admit it.

But from what I've heard, of the 4-bolt designs, All-Pro's new arms have some good things going for them. Brian @ FRORF has made some statements regarding the accuracy and design of these arms being top amongst their class. I have no experience with them - I have Marlin's right now.

I just bought my second set of sky's cross over for my wifes truck.
I have had no problems with the ones on my truck.

I bought the TG kit.
I have 3/8 plates and 12 gauge plates to plate up the IFS box(chassis). Just not sure which one to use? 3/8 seems Like a over kill and the 12 gauge is about the same size thickness as what is being used from the factory....or a little thicker.
Anyway, which one would you opt for 3/8 or 12 gauge?
Mike

"12 gauge" may not be the right name for it...but that is what I was told by the guy who gave it to me. I would say it is in the 4 to 5 mm thick range.

Not sure of those kits, but I used either 3/16" or 1/4" for my outer plate and I think when I plated the inside (trail rerair), I used 3/8" since that is what I had on hand.

sent you a pm before I read this post.
Thanks I think I will go with the 12 gauge steel. I think it is a little thicker the 1/4 inch.

12 gauge steel is .081, nowhere near 1/4 .250!!!!
