hey i found this guy trying to sell what he claims to be an 85 yota axle with 4.88 gears installed. i plan to go check em out and i was just wonderin if you guys could tell me how i can determine if this really is an 85 axle W/4.88 ive been looking for! i dont know if i could look for some kind of id number on the axle or count the teeth in the gears... help me im new and trying to do my 89 v6 yota the juctice it deserves. it probably is the real deal i just want to avoid any bunk deals, oh and he's asking $650. heres the link with a few picks... i already called him so i call dibs. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/282298069.html

Seems pretty expensive for an axle with just a gear change. The last stock 85 axle I bought was 150. You have to remember you are not going to use some of the stuff like the steering arms, rotors, calipers, Birfields, and axle shafts. I have no idea how much he paid at T.A.P. but I know they stuck it to him. I bought a stock Birfield there for a friend ten years ago and it was eighty-five dollars. That was just the Birf, no axle shaft. T.A.P. things their stuff is gold. Were the 4:88's in it when he bought it from T.A.P., if not they will not be covered by the Warranty?

TAP Recyling is a nasty bunch. Stay away from them. They're as bad as NWOR.
That'll be sweet if there's 4.88's in that thing; good luck!
