Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just slid open the sliding rear/side window and it smashed into a million pieces. Fortunatly, I have a spare Dodge Raider that I can take the part from, but how do I remove/replace it?
It's going to rain tonight, and i have a couple of hours of sunlight left.

HELP!!!
Thanks,
Rob

When I removed side windows last, I slid the front one to the rear and used a wide cold chisel to start the rubber weatherstripping to the 'out of the truck' position. I worked carefully until I had most of the gasket off and pulled gently. I think it'll be easier to replace the entire unit rather than one individual window. To replace it in the other truck, you'll need someone to hold the window unit along the outside rail, use some heavy string or twine wrapped around the rubber gasket, liberally coat the rubber with 409 or similar soap, then pull the string from the inside to get the gasket over the rail. All should be well after that.

It may take more than once, but this should be about 1 hour overall for removal and replacement.

Thanks, I got the 'new' one out of the raider, but I think I'm going to get a glass shop to install it for me. Thanks very much for the tip. I've had a bit of bad luck today, so I think i'll stop while I'm ahead.

It takes about 30min to an hour to replace the entire unit. Take the plastic molding off from the inside, pop the window out. Put the replacement in, use the string technique (desribed above) to get the gasket to pop out. It will save you the money of a window shop, but if you need the peace of mind go ahead and take it in and get it done. I actually replaced the back window, and took off my deformed rear bumper in an hour.
