but i just replaced all 4 up front and it's still making odd noises like bad WB.
pretty sure it's the drivers-side tire and it happens when i turn semi-hard right.

what else would make noise like that? Kind of "rubbing" or "vibrating" noise. It's more flat like a whurrrr as opposed to metal on metal scratchy-rubbing noises.

I'm thinknig maybe my wheels are out of balance or something? I'm in 2wd, hubs unlocked.
It was making this noise before i replaced the passengers wheel bearing on sunday. then i did the drivers' just last night. still the same noises.

Just a guess, bushings/bearings in the spindle.

You are postive it is coming from the front?

pretty sure it's coming from the front, i can hear it if i lean out the window pretty strong from the driver's front, and it only shows up when I swerve right.

Scerb was suggesting the spindle bushing too but... wouldn't that only make noise if the CV's are turning?

I have an apointment @ the dealer on thursday for the steering rod recall, i might ask them to drive it and see what they say. I'd guess that I screwed up the pre-load on the bearings but it was making the noise before I even touched 'em!

tires dont make noise when they are out of balance. so you can rule that out.

Change out the bearing races as well?
Jack up the truck and grab the top/bottom of the wheel and see if there is play there. Did you pack the bearings with enough grease?

Did you bend the backing plate or something touching the wheel when turning?

Just trying to think what else could go wrong in there.

yep def did the races too, all four. i can try and check for play in them again. maybe i'm doing something wrong.

i think i packed enough grease in there... I used probably 1/2 of one little tub and 1/4 of a new one. the small ones that're like 3" tall and 3" diameter.
I packed it all in between the races and then coated teh bearings themselves before/after putting them into the races. I was actually kind of wondering how the grease migrates from the center to the outside where it's needed most. Maybe I'll tear down and pack some more in there.

Is there such thing as too much grease?

The backing plate -- you mean the dust shield on the back of the rotor? I didn't think of that.

ya I was just gonna suggest a frozen caliper?? If you are in 2wd with hubs unlocked its NOT spindle bushings - unless of course you put the hub together wrong and it is not unlocking correctly? Try spinning ur cv shafts by hand in 2wd.. they should spin freely with hubs unlocked.

x2 on the spindle bushings/bearings,especially if it does it cold and clears up some when you warm it up.
