All right, i have a 96 XJ 4.0 auto. I have no idea what the problem is. It keeps throwing the code "cylinder 1 misfire." I don't think it's the timing bc it runs and starts just fine. I put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil recently. Any help will be appreciated

Thx

is there anything actually "wrong" with the jeep other than it telling you its misfiring?

Is it idling good or not? I'd pull the #1 plug and look at it. If good I'd swap it for the #2 and see what code I get after that.

yeah, it does misfire, just not very often. and tomorrow i'm going to do a compression check on it, see if it has a cracked head gasket. it idle's low, around 600-700.
