nice. I'd like to see a pickup converted into a pop-top camper . . . Maybe one day. I don't know how your apprentice stayed so clean for those pictures.

Man, it's amazing what you can do with some fiberglass! By the way there is a trekker for sale in Mankato, Mn.

The problem with stainless is getting the strength and stiffness without getting to thick. Stainless is unfortunately a rather soft metal that fatigues easily. -- Bryan

nope .. zinc'd steel 14G incased in fiberglass .. it'll last for 50 Years . The problem with stainless is getting the strength and stiffness without getting to thick. Stainless is unfortunately a rather soft metal that fatigues easily.

He doesn't have an ad. Only a window sign. I could talk to him though.

If rusty 22 gauge has held up fine. Then 14 gauge stainless would be strong enough. The Galvinized is probably much better than originally used. Encased in fiberglass it will last for a LONG time. Until you drill a hole trough it to attach something, then expose that hole to salt, then all bets are off (Unless you are also careful to seal the hole). I'm just saying if I was going to all that trouble I'd spring a couple of extra bucks and use stainless. Yes it is weaker. But you are nearly doubling the thickness, so it would be fine. Not saying what you are doing is wrong, just that I'd do it a little different. Who knows, your way might be better - but I suspect it will take years of abuse of either to find out Again, nice job. Got plans for a lift top camper

so Progress pulled the plastic cover off because it was all cracked and missing pieces where it is riveted onto the door .. "hemed and hawed" about what I was going to do .. I was going to make a mould , and make a completly new one .. but to much time and money involved there , so I decided to repair the holes , and send it off to line-x as well .. it'll work out great . and match the rest of the rig . hatch cover repaired ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0330.jpg) and sanded and ready for line-x ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0331.jpg) rear hatch is now completly apart , and ready for some line-X ![[Linked Image]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2/bj_bumperboy/Texas%20Trekker/HPIM0332.jpg)
