95.5 Rodeo: Model year differences? #794381 03/04/07 06:08 PM

I've been doing a lot of work on my wife's Rodeo since we've been together the last couple of years: clutch cylinders, brakes, starter, cleaning TB, and right now in the middle of a water pump turned timing belt, etc. job. Was wondering if someone could clarify the 95.5 model year differences for me. She told me it was a 95.5, and I kinda blew it off until I saw the owner's manual which clearly states 1995.5 right on it.

Mainly, what engine/parts differences might I encounter? Is it safer just to say a 96 when getting parts from non-dealer sources?

Thanks- Tom

Yes, i routinely refer to my 95.5 as 96 to avoid confusion at the parts counter. Its going to be much closer to a 96 than to a 95.

THE 190 HP CAME IN 96 AS THE OBD11 ENG CONTROL, AND ALLSO THE 95.5 RODEO HAD AIRBAGS 94 DID NOT HAVE THEM , OTHER THAN SOME TRIM AND THE ENG CONTROLS , AND THE AIR BAGS THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS THE 96 EXCEPT THE ENGS ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE JERRY,

Ah, the old 95.5 rodeo discussion. The 96s did get the redesigned ifs, with longer control arms and equal length cvs. The rear axle was slightly wider, I think 1.5 or 2"? I believe there was also a difference in the abs system as well. The 96+ got 4wheel abs vs rear wheel, or they moved the location of the sensors, I don't remember.

So unless you are ordering interior pieces, I would tell them its a 95.

Need a Spot
From what I've heard the 95.5 got everything the 96 had except ODBII. I have a 95.5 and would really appreciate a definite answer if anyone is sure since I will be replacing my cvs soon.
