Well... the drivers side front sliding window got broken last night. Don't know if it was a kid w/bb gun or a rock that got thrown up by a passing car.... doesn't really matter at this point. I've ordered replacement glass from 1stToyotaParts only $65. I remember a while back, maybe a couple of years or more, a detailed description of how to replace this glass, but I can't find it w/the search function. Can someone help? Much thanks!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
ive never done it on a toyota pickup. but i have done about 50 on all sorts of other cars and they are pretty much all the same.
take off your trim panel(you may need a window crank removal tool to get the window crank off)once you have it off take off the pastic so you have access to the window. once you have all that put the window crank back on and move it up and down until you have access to the bolts. take them out, put the new one in. you may have to take off your belt mouldings on the outside/inside of the door to get the new windo to fit. when u put the window in you may want to put it in crooked and straighten it out once its in so it slides into the guides correctly.

He meant on a 4runner - the ones that slide horizontally, are part of the fiberglass shell.
Unfortunately I can't help you though.... but I do wonder if you have to remove those beloved L-trim strips that are prone to rustin gso badly...

There is a ~10 page section of the '85 FSM on doing just that. Link at the top of this page.
