Need a Spot
Hi I have a 1990 toyota and I just replaced the carpet and I messed up when I cut the hole out for the 5spd and the 4wd and it looks like crap I just cut the hole to big. so what would look good to cover that up? I have a bench seat so I dont think a center console would look all that great!! so If u have any ideas or comments <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> let me know !!! thanks

You might not like my reply.

Do it over. Use the retainer for a pattern, cut just inside the diameter, TRIM to fit.

Scrap out the carpet you just worked with to make floor mats.

yah i thought about that but i spent good money on that carpet
from jcwhitney. I talked to another guy online and he said I were to get the cup holder out of a 93-97 ranger it would look good or another Idea I had was to trace the trim/sill plate and used sheet metal and paint it then screw it down that way its kind of a trim that would cover the hole that was to big!!

On my truck that same area is pretty trashed from years of soda spilling out of cans in the cup holders. Sticky soda and trail dust are a tough combo to get out of the carpet. So, I took a cheap thin rubber floormat (for the back of some vehicle, so it was fairly small) and trimmed it to fit around the shifter boots and between the console and the bench seat and down the sides of the transmission hump. This would cover up your mistake and it's easier to clean than carpet. It looks better than it sounds, especially when touched up with some Armor All.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
if you have any carpet left try triming apiece to cover the whole transmission hump if you do it uniformly then it won't look bad and you get a chance to recut those holes that are messed up
