Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey Guys, whats the best way to put the bushings through the shock hole? I dont want to use any lube that will harm the poly.

I do not understand the question...I've never had a problem.

rubber mallet?

That allways seems to fix any "fit" issues that I've ever had to deal with. Like jim said though, they should fit right in.

i guess i just dont understand how they are suppose to go. I have 4 skyjacker shocks, 4 washers, 4 small bushings that look like they fit the top stem, and only 2 large bushing with a rod bracket that look like they fit the bottom eye. am i missing bushings? Ive never messed with shocks before and there are no instructions inside or on the box. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Yes, those larger bushings should fit inside of the "eye" of the shock...then the bolt should go through that bushing. Lube wont hurt polyurethane...that's one of it's properties. Heck, my prothane bushings CAME with lube. And YES, the lube was used ONLY for the bushings.

i recently bought a skyjacker steering stabilizer and the bushings were a real pain in the @$$ to get in, i wish i would have thought about lube at the time, ill remember it for next time though

Body Damage is Cool
You need to lube the poly bushings - lube won't hurt them. Just about any lube will do, but I found that a spray can of silicone lube works best for me.

Douch the bushing with the lube. partially insert it in the eye of the shock, and squeeze it in with a vice. Shortly after you put pressure on it in the vice, the bushing will pop right into the eye.
